Your first week

The short path from downloading Klaudius to your first reply. At any point you can ask Klaudius in Conversations what to do next.

1. Download and set up

Download the app from klaudius.dev/download. On a Mac, drag Klaudius into your Applications folder before you open it, so it can keep itself up to date; on Windows, run the installer; on Linux, open the download to install it. On a Chromebook, turn on Linux first (in Settings, under About ChromeOS → Developers), then open the download in Files and choose Install; Klaudius then appears in your Launcher, in the Linux apps folder.

Open it, choose Start setup and paste the licence key from your subscription email. Setup takes about 15 to 20 minutes and can be saved part-way. What you need lists the accounts it asks for.

2. If you pitch by email, check it lands

Before your first email pitch, ask Klaudius to check your email deliverability. It sends one test message from your mailbox to itself, reads how the receiving mail service treated it, and tells you exactly what to fix. See Email.

3. Build your own agency website

Many owners you pitch will look you up before they reply, so give them something to find. Press Build my website under Your website on the Runs page, or ask Klaudius to "build my website". It fills in your prices and contact details from your settings, then asks in one message for the rest: your town, who you build for, a few sentences about you and a photo. With no client work to show yet, the page leads with your offer and with you.

You get a private preview first and can ask for any change in plain words. When you're happy, put it live on your own domain. See Your own agency website.

4. Build your first client website

On the Dashboard, press Build one on the First steps card. Klaudius finds one business, builds its website and puts it online, then stops: the pitch waits for you. To aim it at a particular town or kind of business, fill in Where to work on the Runs page first.

Look the site over. Press Ask for changes if you want anything different, then Send the pitch (or Draft the pitch, if automatic outreach is off). Make sites yours covers changing how sites look.

5. Start a run

On the Runs page, set the number beside Run Klaudius and press Start. Klaudius works on that many businesses at once until you stop it: start with ×2 on Claude Pro, ChatGPT Plus or a Standard seat, and ×3 on bigger plans. Runs need the app open and your computer awake. See Runs.

With Send outreach automatically on, the default, each business is pitched as soon as its website is live: Klaudius checks the website loads and it has a way to reach the business, then sends without waiting for you. See What it does on its own.

6. Watch for visits

When a business opens the website you sent them, you get an alert while they're still looking: "Acme Bakery (Leeds) just opened the site you built them. Visit 2." Your own visits don't count. See Visit alerts.

7. Approve your first follow-ups

The first follow-up is due three days after a pitch. Once your first pitch has gone out, the Dashboard offers to write your follow-ups each morning: pick a time and press Yes, do that.

Each day, open Inbox → Follow-ups, read each drafted message, edit any you want to change, then approve all, some or none. Nothing is sent until you approve it. See Daily follow-ups.

8. Check your warm leads

The warm-leads report lists everyone who has replied and what each conversation needs from you. With daily follow-ups on, it follows them each morning; you can also press Start on Warm leads on the Runs page. It never sends anything. See Warm leads.

9. Answer your first reply

When an owner replies, they appear in Inbox → Replies. Press View conversation to read it, and Draft a reply to have Klaudius write a first version: it waits for your go-ahead before sending. Reply while it's warm. When a client replies and Your first sales take it from there.
