Updates

How the Klaudius app and your pipeline stay up to date, and why an update never overwrites your clients, settings or customisations.

Klaudius keeps itself up to date: both the app and the pipeline it runs (the instructions and tools that find, build and pitch). Neither needs much from you.

The app

When a new version is ready, Klaudius asks to restart. Press Restart now and it's done in a few seconds, or Later and it installs the next time you quit, or by itself once the window is closed and your computer is idle.

On Linux it never installs by itself while idle. If installing needs your computer's password, it doesn't install when you quit either: it installs when you choose Restart now and enter your password. If you choose Later, Klaudius asks again the next time you open it, or, if it stays open, once a day has passed and nothing is running.

Restarting stops anything that's running first, so if a run is going, choose Later. Runs don't pick up again on their own after a restart; see Runs.

Settings → Klaudius folder shows the app's version and when it last checked for updates, and says what to do if something went wrong. If an update can't be installed for you, the card offers Download the latest version; your licence, settings and Klaudius folder are all kept. Help → What's new lists what recent versions changed.

On a Mac, Klaudius can only update itself from your Applications folder. Opened from Downloads or straight from the disk image, it runs as a temporary copy and every update is thrown away. Settings tells you if that's the case: quit Klaudius, drag it into your Applications folder, and open it from there.

Claude Code

Claude Code is installed separately from the app. In Settings → Your setup, the Claude Code row shows the version you're on, with an Update link when a newer one is out.

Codex

Codex comes with the app and updates whenever the app does, so there's nothing to keep up to date yourself.

Your pipeline

Settings → Pipeline updates shows where your pipeline stands. If it says there's nothing for you to do, your pipeline is kept up to date for you. If it offers Update now or Check for updates, press it. Running work is unaffected; new runs use the new version.

What an update never changes

  • Your clients, their websites and your settings are never overwritten.
  • Changes you've asked Klaudius to make are kept. If an update touches the same part of Klaudius as one of them, the card shows Needs your decision and offers Go through them with Klaudius, which explains what you'd asked for and what the update changes, and changes nothing until you say yes.
