Make the sites yours

Set the look, wording and language of the sites Klaudius builds, review what it made, and ask for changes in plain words.

Every site Klaudius builds gets a design of its own, picked for that business. You set the rules it works within, from what you want on every site to the tone of the copy, by telling Klaudius in Conversations.

Tell Klaudius your preferences

Brief it in plain words, the way you'd brief a designer:

  • "Give trades businesses a bolder, more modern look."
  • "Never use script or handwritten fonts."
  • "Always show the opening hours near the top of the page."

Klaudius saves each lasting preference and applies it to every later site. On wording, layout and tone, your preferences win over its built-in examples; if a request needs one of its built-in design rules changed, it changes the rule. Either way, it confirms the change in one line.

Updates never change your saved preferences. If an update touches a built-in rule you changed, the Pipeline updates card in Settings says so and offers Go through them with Klaudius.

Some things hold whatever you ask:

  • Only real facts. Klaudius won't invent services, prices, reviews or claims, and it shows only reviews with a confirmed four- or five-star rating, quoted word for word.
  • Readable text. Every site's text is checked for contrast, so a colour you ask for may be darkened for small text.
  • Sites that don't look alike. Klaudius won't reuse another site's heading font, or the body font of another site in the same town, because neighbouring owners see each other's sites. A rule fixing every site to one font works against this.

The language each site is written in

Every site is written natively in the language you chose during setup, or English if you didn't choose one: menus, buttons, the page title, the footer and everything else a visitor reads. Opening hours, phone numbers and prices follow that country's conventions. Reviews are quoted as written, and business names are never translated.

To work another country, ask Klaudius to add it as a market ("add Ireland as a market"); businesses there get sites in that market's language. Change your home country or language in Settings → Change setup → Location & pricing. A client's editor and booking pages are in the same language as their site.

Review a site before its owner sees it

Every new site appears in Pipeline, with a link to open it. By default, Klaudius sends the pitch as soon as the site is live. To look at each site first, switch off Send outreach automatically in Settings → Pipeline settings: the pipeline then stops after deploy, and Draft the pitch on the business in Pipeline has Klaudius write the pitch for you to check and send yourself.

Until a client buys and you take their site live, every site is a private draft that search engines are told to skip.

Ask for changes

Name the business and say what you want: "On Acme Bakery's site, use the shopfront photo at the top and make the opening hours easier to find." Klaudius edits the site and redeploys it at the same address. If you'd want the change on every site, say so, and it becomes a preference too.

A site with the editor or the booking system is always changed in place, never rebuilt, because a rebuild would remove them.

The quality check

An independent review pass can check each site at phone and computer widths before it goes live and send problems back for fixing. Switch it with Quality checks in Settings → Pipeline settings; Quality checks explains the trade-off between better sites and more sites per usage window.

Ask Klaudius

  • Write the copy on every site in a warmer, more casual tone
  • Never use script fonts on my sites
  • Show me the preferences you've saved for building sites
